What to Expect

Bible Reading, Bible Teaching and Bible Believing

We believe the Bible is God's Word. It is a lamp unto our feet and  light unto our path (Psalm 119:105)All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (II Timothy 3:16-17). The Bible reveals God's plan for His people and how to live out that plan, individually and corporately. "Everything written in the Scriptures was written to teach us, in order that we might have hope through the patience and encouragement which the Scriptures give us (Romans 15:4). Reid Chapel's Beliefs, practices and priorities are anchored and rooted in the Bible. The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple (Psalm 19:7). We believe in Reading, Studying, Teaching, Believing and Living (James 1:22) the Word of God.

God Glorifying

Belief in God is the most basic reality of our humanity. We acknowledge that God is the Creator of the Heavens and the Earth, and God has allowed human beings to have dominion on the earth (Genesis 1:28). We believe that the complexity of our planet points to a deliberate Creator and designer who not only created the universe but sustains and is present and active in that universe today. We believe God's presence and fingerprints are in all of creation and in evidenced in nature (Psalm 19:1) We believe that when God created the heavens and earth (Jeremiah 32:17) he wanted human beings to be good stewards of the earth: to stay in relationship with God (Holiness) and stay in a right and proper relationship with humans beings (righteousness). We believe we serve an All Powerful God who is Just and desires Justice for God's people. We seek to Glorify God daily in all things (I Corinthians 10:31)

Christ Centered
Jesus of Nazareth is Jesus the Christ, the promised Messiah (Isaiah 9:6). We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is Jesus the Christ and through him we live move and have our being (Acts 17:28) Jesus is the personification of God on earth (John 10:30). We believe that Jesus was born, walked this earth, performed miracles, was crucified, pronounced dead and resurrected from the Grave. Our church's theology is centered firmly on Jesus as the Messiah (Isaiah 9:6). Through him by confession of faith (Romans 10:9) we are forgiven of our sins and have eternal life (John 3:16)

Holy Spirit Filled
The Holy Spirit is God's present activity in our midst. When we sense God's leading, God's challenge, or God's support or comfort, we say that it's the Holy Spirit at work. The Holy Spirit is affirmed by His many works. He was personally involved in creation (Genesis 1:2), empowers God's people (Zechariah 4:6), guides (Romans 8:14), comforts (John 14:26), convicts (John 16:8), teaches (John 16:13), restrains sin (Isaiah 59:19), and gives commands (Acts 8:29). Jesus promised the disciples that the Comforter (Holy Spirit) would come. We believe we should be led by the Holy Spirit and should be careful to create an environment where we are sensitive to the nudging and direction of the Holy Spirit.

Disciple Making Christian
We are called to be Disciples. Making disciples is a clear mandate from Christ. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19). This requires a strong focus on evangelism and training in spiritual growth and holy living. This will produce and promote personal and communal growth and health in the life of the Church.
